Internet of Things (IoT) concepts and why is it important to daily lives?
The Internet of Things is a network that connects physical objectives like controllers, sensors, smartphones and machines that do not require the involvement of human to human interactions. IoT devices gather huge amounts of data to analyse and maximise the efficiency.

As a student, the first thing I check when I come out of the house is the PTV app which is a transportation app to tell me the time a train, bus or tram will arrive or is expected to be late. This app is really changing my daily life in organising time, track on transportations. Not just a network of sensors on vehicles or GPS track apps but something more bigger, more innovative than constantly updating each second, each minute that transportation is moving in Melbourne and fit just right on my phone to look at as an app.
How has the Internet of Things applied in technology devices?
PTV app is a great example of Internet of Things (IoT) applications that are used in real life as a technology tool to connect between users and physical devices like vehicles and devices to collect data and location as fast as possible. As IoT devices continue to expand, mobile app development has been upgraded to collect more massive data and analyse more meaningful ways.

The PTV app offers a journey planner feature that assists people like me who are not so good in navigating location or route when travelling around CBD areas. This personalisation feature helps users easily in planning their own trip through collecting data on location, preferences in vehicles and behaviour to give users the best alternative travel plans that are quick and convenient.
IoT devices are transforming manufacturing, management, healthcare and transportation industries in providing quality control that enhance supply chain efficiency and employee safety in working that helps businesses grow with reliable technology in development.
It is fascinating to know that the PTV app that people use daily also collects Big Data. It attempts to evaluate the potential impacts and feasibility to analyse the interchange alternative from changing route, making alternative announcements for replacing trains or buses which showcase the huge impact of big data resources in management. By incorporating Big Data into the app, PTV is able to ensure less unexpected incidents happen without solutions in travelling for users and increase correction in analysis.
